Why Article Marketing is Great for Generating Leads

article-marketingLong before the internet rose to its position of importance in marketing, the use of article marketing was considered a useful promotion tool in print media.  Today, the availability of online venues such as websites, ezines and newsletters via email have created an even greater need for well-written articles on a variety of topics.  As a result, article marketing has become a more powerful tool than ever before.

Article marketing is the practice of providing well-written content for distribution to websites and epublishers in exchange for a blurb about the author’s business and contact information.  These “bios” usually include a link to the business owner’s website.

When a business owner offers content for publication, it is equivalent to getting free ad space on countless websites worldwide.  The opportunity for exposure to the right market is significant, while the cost is virtually nil, making it a highly efficient means of business communication.

Unlike using email campaigns for lead generation, which net about a one percent response rate, article marketing targets a willing audience.  Readers either voluntarily visited the website on which the article is published, or have opted in to receive the newsletter or ezine.  This audience is inherently more open to the information contained in the article, and therefore more likely to follow the link to the author’s website to learn more.

Publishers who pick up the articles already have an audience of potential buyers in place.  Readers are interested in the content of the articles, suggesting they may be in the market to purchase products or services related to that content.  By comparison, the cost to purchase a list of such well-qualified leads would be formidable.  Providing an article costs no more than the investment of the time required to write it.

Business owners can further increase the conversion rate by including a link to a particular piece of information in the author’s bio.  Rather than linking to the home page, authors can include a link to an article on their own site that elaborates on the article topic.  Readers will be more likely to seek out additional specific information.

Conversion rates can be improved further by publishing an email address that readers can use to subscribe to the author’s newsletter or website.  Making the desired action as easy as possible increases the reader’s likelihood of doing so.  An auto-response can then be sent to new signa links to specific features of the author’s website.

Providing content to publishers in related fields can be a highly cost-effective means of increasing website traffic, generating qualified leads, and improving both brand awareness and ultimately, sales.

Traffic School 101 – 3 Proven Ways to Get Traffic to Your Site

site traffic picWelcome to Traffic School 101. As a website owner, your goal is to have a steady stream of targeted traffic flowing into your site. Here are three effective and proven ways to drive traffic to your site.

Blogs are a great way to add traffic to your site. You can add a feed burner to your blog which will enable your readers to stay up to date with new posts that you add. The posts can be delivered right to their email or homepage. As you add posts to your blog, point out new articles and other content that you have recently added to your site. The more you talk about your site, the more interest you will generate.

If you choose, you can add a blog roll to your blog that lists other blogs your readers might find interesting. If you add a link of someone else’s blog to your site, ask them to add a reciprocal link to your blog. Remember to focus on your target market and what they would find interesting. If your site’s focus is on making homemade organic baby food, trading links with a blog that is focused on bulldogs won’t add targeted traffic to your site. However, trading links with blogs devoted to organic food will have a better chance at increasing your traffic.

You can also increase the amount of traffic that comes to your site with article marketing. It may sound complicated, but it is quite easy. You simply write articles and distribute them to article reprint directories. There are many directories out there, and you will want to distribute them to as many directories as possible. This can be done manually, or you can invest in software that can do this for you. Another option is to hire a virtual assistant to submit them for you.

By adding these articles to reprint directories, you are giving permission for other people to publish these articles on their sties for free. When other website owners publish the articles you have written, they will include a “bio box” at the end of the article. You choose what the bio box says and can include links to your site. The articles can be any length you choose and can be on any topic. If you don’t like writing, you can hire a ghostwriter to write the articles for you.

Having a newsletter is another great way to drive traffic to your site. Include a link to your opt-in page everywhere; the pages on your website, the signature line in the forums you belong to, the signature line in your email, and don’t forget to add the link to your blog. The more people that see your opt-in page, the more subscribers you will get. By sending your newsletter to your mailing list on a regular basis, you will stay in your readers’ minds. Include excerpts from new articles and other information that you have recently added and to your web pages, including links that point to the full text on your site.

Turning An Ordinary Experience Into An Article

experience2As you may already know, article marketing is one of the best ways to drive free traffic to your website.  When you write an article and distribute it to an article reprint directory, other website owners and bloggers can use it on their sites.

In exchange for the free content, they will also publish a bio box at the end of the article.  You can include information about your website and a link to it.  Your article, and the incoming link, can be published over and over by many different people on various websites.  All of these incoming links equal more traffic to your site.

In addition to article marketing, you should also be writing articles for your own site.  The more content you have, the more likely it is the search engines will find you and send you free traffic.  Plus, the more helpful information you have on your website, the more likely it is that your visitors will return to your site.  If you have nothing to offer them, they won’t come back.

You can use ordinary everyday type of experiences as inspiration for your articles.  Your readers are just like you – the types of things that are affecting your life are also affecting theirs’.

Take a look at the experience you would like to write about and find a way to spin it so that it fits your business.  For instance, if you sell cosmetics, what are some types of events that happen every day that relate to cosmetics?

Many women are very busy in the morning and do not have a lot of time to spend on make-up application.  Or perhaps your daughter has taken your lipstick and drawn all over the bedroom wall – this is a good opportunity to give tips on how to remove makeup.

You can also take events from your own daily life and use them as a base for your articles.  If you have a website with information about marketing a home-based business, create an article about your busy day and your time management tricks.

The fact that you are writing in a way that is relatable can get you published again and again.  People will appreciate your honesty.  If they are having issues with something, they will feel comforted to know that they are not alone.  This can also build trust between you and the reader.  Once they trust you, they are more likely to become one of your customers.  Writing in this format is a win-win situation and will help you increase your profits.

If You Write, They Will Come

writing 1“If you write, they will come”… What does that mean? When it comes to the web, the more you write, the more traffic you’ll have flowing into your website. Whether it is content you feature on your site, blog posts or even press releases, if you want people to know your website exists, start writing about it.

You may have heard the phrase “content is king”, and there is a lot of truth to that. The more quality, informative content a site has the more reasons a person has to visit that site. Adding a steady stream of articles and other information to your site will help the search engines find your site and will also keep visitors coming back for more information.

When it comes to articles, don’t just stop with adding articles to your own site. Other website owners are in search of fresh, quality content, too and could use your articles. You can add the articles you write to a reprint article directory, and when a website owner publishes your article, the links that you have chosen to add to the “author’s bio box” will be included. A limitless number of people will be able to read your articles and see your links.

Keeping a blog is another way to increase traffic to your site through writing. Update your blog regularly, several times a week. Your readers will come to see you as an expert and will visit your site for more information on the topics your site features. Point out new articles and other information that you add to your website in your blog posts, including links to your site.

A press release is a way to get free publicity through the media. The purpose of a press release is to give the media, usually newspapers, information that is useful, relevant and interesting. Don’t stop with “paper” newspapers – also include online newspapers in your press release distribution.

If you have never written a press release before, don’t worry. Here are the basic things you will want to include. Include your name, URL, address and phone number at the top of the page. The words “press release” should be centered, in bold, and in all capital letters under that. Below that, print the name of the person you want the press release to go to, and the release date for the information. If the information can be released at any time, you can use the words “for immediate release”. Give your press release a title, and below that include the “who, what, where, when and why”. At the end of your press release, include three # symbols, centered directly underneath the last line. If possible, print your press release on letterhead that displays your business name and logo.

Article Marketing

Article Marketing is a great tool to use when it comes to adding traffic to your site. If you are not familiar with what it is, Article Marketing is simply writing articles and submitting them to article reprint directories on the web.

As you know, having fresh content on your website and blog is key when it comes to getting search engine traffic. Many website owners and bloggers visit article reprint directories on a daily basis, in search of articles to use on their sites. When you submit an article to a directory, you are allowing other website owners and bloggers permission to add your article to their site – for free. However, they need to include an “about the author” box at the end of the article. You get to write what you want included in that box, so include a bit of information about the product or service you offer and include links to your site.

When the website owner or blogger puts your article up on the web, all of their readers will see your biography information and the links to your website. Your article could end up on hundreds or thousands of websites, and quite possibly, millions of people could end up reading it! Who knows how many people could click on your link?

It is very easy to find these reprint directories on the web. Just do a Google search on “free reprint article directories” and many listings will pop up. Some are highly targeted and feature only articles health articles; or only articles about food; and other directories are more general. You can submit your article to more than one directory, and there are even some software packages that will submit the articles for you.

The topics you can choose to write about are limitless. What is the focus of your website? Be creative and think of why someone would want to visit your website and create an article about it. Someone who sells Tupperware for instance, could easily write about food related items or take it a step further an write an article about the fact that the plastic containers are great for organizing toys, bathroom items or even nuts and bolts in the garage.

If you do not like to write, don’t worry. You can hire a ghostwriter to write your article for you. You can ask other Internet Marketers for referrals on reputable ghostwriters. The prices for an article will vary, but an average rate is about $10 to $12 for a 500 word article. Once you discuss with the ghostwriter what you are looking for, they will write the article and send it back to you. Some ghostwriters may also include submit the article to reprint directories for you.

Top 10 Traffic Ideas For Your Blog

Blogs are popular ways to create an online presence for personal and business reasons. You can build a blog for free and begin posting content right away. But, what good is that content if no one is reading it. Here are ten ideas to bring in the traffic your blog needs to survive.

Of all the successful blogs on the Internet, hundreds more have failed. Running a blog is like running a business website. Unless you are willing to put the time in and treat it seriously, you won’t be blogging long.

That is not to say that the failed bloggers weren’t serious about blogging. Mostly, new bloggers aren’t prepared for the work that goes into creating a successful blog. Just building the blog doesn’t mean that people will necessary come to you. You pursue the audience and give them a reason to see what you have to say.

1.    Fresh Content – no one wants to visit a blog day after day and see the same posts. Update your blog content at least twice a week. This will be easier if you write several posts ahead of time and upload them at the appropriate times.

2.    Article Marketing – the niche you’ve chosen for your blog is one that interests you. If it is interesting you will spend more time doing it. Create content not only for your blog but also to be submitted to article directories. Use the resource box to advertise your blog so people can find you.

3.    Social Networking – these sites are everywhere. Join Facebook, MySpace, Squidoo, Twitter or a dozen others and make connections. You can join groups of likeminded people who are also bloggers or entrepreneurs.

4.    Viral Marketing – this is where you spread the word about your blog. Talk to friends, family and even strangers. Give out business cards that have your blog address on them.

5.    Use RSS Feeds – RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication.” Readers can subscribe to your feed and get email updates when new content is posted. It is an easy way for them to keep up with your blog without spending all day online.

6.    Submit Blog to Search Engines – doing this allows your blog to be ranked. Google and Yahoo! are two of the most popular search engines you want to crawl your blog pages. It doesn’t guarantee top ranking, though. You’ll have to do a little more work for that.

7.    Joining Forums – as a blogger you are a budding entrepreneur. Right now you are marketing yourself to find traffic and then profit. Become a member of business forums, work at home forums and others to meet new people and share ideas. You can add a link to your blog in the signature line so others can find you.

8.    Visit other blogs – show your appreciation to those who visit you by also posting comments on their blogs. It is a kindness that shows others you are not just out to advertise your blog alone. Add links to your blog in your comments.

9.    SEO Marketing – whatever you write, use relevant keywords. Keyword density between three and ten percent is good for getting higher page rankings in search engines. Base your keywords on a research you do to find the most popular words used in search engines for your niche.

10.    Social Bookmarking – submitting posts to social bookmarking sites allows others who are members of those sites to track you back to your blog.

Using any of these ideas will start the traffic moving in your direction. It takes time but you will build the readership you want.
