Moms, Get out and Vote!

As moms we are all concerned about our families. We want what is best for our children. We want what is best for our spouses. We want what is best for our entire family.

Moms work hard to be involved. Moms are involved in schools for their children. Moms support their spouses in their career goals. Moms do whatever they can to help out any family member in need.

In addition to our families, there is another need moms need to fulfill. That need is politics.  Don’t stop reading!

Many of us voted in the primary and will vote in the upcoming mid-term elections. That is terrific! Voting is so very important and everyone who is of voting age and is eligible is definitely encouraged to vote. It is how people make their voices heard. (If one does not vote, one should not complain about the state of the city, state or nation). If you are not registered to vote yet, or if you know people who are not yet registered, send them to this website where they can do so easily.

There is a lot more moms can do, though, and it is easy.

Proposed bills, amendments and candidates are all online nowadays. Search online for the issues that matter to you most. Find the bills you agree with and the candidates that best represent you. Sign up for their e-newsletters so you can stay up to date on the issues.

You can help further the issues important to you by simply e-mailing your friends and family. Tweet on Twitter, post of Facebook. Help to educate others on the issues. All votes should be informed votes…the issues are to important and of to much consequence for people to vote out of ignorance.

If you find you want to get more involved you can contact your favorite candidate’s office and volunteer. There are many ways to volunteer and a lot of them do not require a lot of your time…just on hour a week between now and the mid-term elections can make a big difference.

While it seems complicated, it is not. Learn about the issues you are concerned about and do what you can to educate others. As moms, we are a force to be reckoned with!

An educated vote is the best vote!

  1. This is so true! My neighborhood is filled with college educated, stay at home moms who would never seem to make it to the polling place on election day. These same women host political signs in their yards because they know the person socially, but do not know what they stand for. Sad!
